A three members panel appointed by the Supreme Court recommended removal of Justice Yashwant Varma after finding strong evidence on allegations of cash discovery at his residence.

A commitee of three judges appointed by the Supreme Court of India to probe corruptionion charges leveled (allegations of cash discovery at the residence) against Justice Yashwant Varma forward a 64 page Report to both to the President and the Prime Minister of India recommending the dismissal of Justice Yashwant Varma.

The corruption charges took against him in the wake of discovery of partially burnt currency notes from the store room of his official residence in Delhi during the process of extinguishing when a fire broke out there on March 14,2025.

After the incident the Supreme Court transferred him from the Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court. It was acknowledged that only Varma and his family were allowed access to the store room and no outsiders were allowed, therefore the committee found that such large quantity of notice could not have been kept there without the permission of Varma or his family .

It was also conducted an inquiry into the involvement of his daughter and private secretary because initially they are reported to have blocked the firefighters from disclosing information regarding the notes recovered.

When the committee sees adequate evidence to start procedure for the removal of Justice Yashwant Varma from his position Justice Varma has refuted all the all the allegations of corruption insisting that he and his family had no information about the notes recovered.
